On June 3rd, 2023, the ACC Contern has participated in the organization of the third edition of the Schleck Gran Fondo, together with the promoter Schleck X-Perience. Next to the La Charly Gaul, this is another cyclosport-race on the beautifull roads of the Grand-Duchy of Luxemburg, this time in the picturesque region of Luxemburg's Moselle river. After 13 years as a professional athlete, Frank Schleck wants to share his passion and his training roads with as much cyclists as prossible. The event is part of the UCI Gran Fondo Series and counts as qualification race for the UCI Gran Fondo world championships..

It is with deep sadness and great emotion that we announce that a serious accident occurred during the 2023 edition of the Schleck Gran Fondo. One of our participants tragically lost their life during this event.
First and foremost, we would like to express our most sincere and deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased rider. Our hearts are with them in these moments of indescribable pain. The family was notified and taken care of immediately after the accident by the event organizers.
The accident occurred despite all the safety measures we had put in place to ensure the protection of all participants. We are fully committed to understanding how this tragic accident could have occurred.. This is a dark day for the Schleck Gran Fondo and the entire cycling community. We are all united in mourning this passionate and dedicated rider.
Out of respect for the family, we will not divulge further details about the participant's identity. We ask everyone to respect the privacy of the family during this extremely difficult time.

The Schleck Gran Fondo is a Cyclosportive held in Mondorf-les-Bains, Luxembourg, on Saturday, 3rd June, 2023. The Schleck Gran Fondo is a road race with two distances. The event is organized by Schleck X-Perience in cooperation with the cycling club ACC Contern..
The cyclosportive is part of the Luxembourg Cycling Federation’s national calendar and is open to licensed and non- licensed riders. The Schleck Gran Fondo 2023 is a qualifier for the UCI World Gran Fondo Championships 2023.
